Seal of disapproval

Something a little different. It's good to have our seals back in their new enclosure but it was such a sunny day I don't think I got many good photos.
This is Silva. She is our oldest seal. I used to come and see her when she was a young (so was I for that matter). She was rescued 20 years ago and could not be re-released. I wanted to show everyone her deep scar which was naturally caused by us and has never fully healed. Seals are very curious creatures and like to investigate. She was found tangled in a discarded fishing net and brought to Melbourne Zoo. All our seals except for one who was born here were all rescued and nursed back to health. I think they are all happy living here now though Silva though was always a favourite and an example of what our rubbish can do to marine life.
